    Dr. Emily is a licensed clinical psychologist. Dr. Shinne earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy. Dr. Shinne completed her predoctoral internship at the Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center and a trauma-focused postdoctoral fellowship at the Loma Linda Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. She has worked in numerous health care settings, including USC’s sexual violence prevention clinic. Dr. Shinne has a passion for working with veterans and underserved communities. She values diversity and acknowledges the role of intersecting identities in shaping clients’ experiences and perspectives. Dr. Shinne uses an integrative approach to therapy that adapts to best serve each client’s unique strengths. She is experienced in psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, building coping skills, and other evidence-based practices including Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure. Dr. Shinne is client-centered and uses research to support her skill set. Dr. Shinne is also a trauma-informed yoga instructor, and believes in a holistic approach to wellbeing that incorporates the mind, body, and spirit.
