    Stressing Out?

    by Jason Temple, LMFT

A lot of clients come in with the same complaint. I’m stressing out.

The pressure that we all feel daily can be overwhelming. What can you do for it?

    1. Check. Check to see if you are experiencing what your emotional brain is telling you that you’re experiencing. Sometimes, we realize our brain is just trying to prepare us for possible outcomes and not what is actually going on.

    2. See if it’s happening now. Even if we have something that is occurring in our lives, it might not be occurring now. Or it might not be occurring to us, at all.

    3. Live in the now. Mindfulness is wonderful. Can you look around and EXPERIENCE what is actuallygoing on. Some of the most stressed-out people realize that what they’re feeling pressured about is either in their own minds or so disconnected from “today” that they can allow their minds to let go… even if for a little while.

While these steps are simplistic, taking a moment to ground to the moment can be helpful.
